Aryna Sabalenka is on a mission to make history by becoming the first women’s player since Serena Williams in 2015 to win both the Australian Open and the French Open in the same season. Her strong performance at the French Open so far has highlighted her title credentials as she reached the third round at Roland Garros with another impressive straight-set win.

In just 62 minutes, the world number two easily defeated Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima with a score of 6-2 6-2 on Court Philippe Chatrier. This victory came after an earlier win over Erika Andreeva in which she dropped only three games. Sabalenka will now face either Spain’s Paula Badosa or Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva, both former quarter-finalists, in the next round.

Sabalenka, who reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros in 2023, has been a consistent performer at Grand Slam tournaments, making at least the semi-finals in her last six appearances. The 26-year-old showcased a mix of power and finesse in her match, hitting 27 winners and using well-timed drop shots to outplay her opponent.
