In recent months, carjackings have become a serious issue in the city of Minneapolis. According to the City’s Crime Dashboard, there have been 76 reported carjackings so far this year, which is a decrease of more than 20% compared to the same time last year. However, despite this decrease, three suspects were arrested in connection to a particularly heinous carjacking that occurred in the Regina neighborhood.

The incident involved three suspects – a woman and two teenage girls – who punched and kicked a woman as she was closing up her business before stealing her vehicle. The robbery led to a brief police chase, with the suspects eventually being arrested near Clinton Avenue and East 45th Street.

Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that law enforcement will continue to arrest those who commit such crimes, regardless of the offender’s age or past arrest record. In fact, the three suspects in question have a history of violent criminal activity, with ages of 18, 16, and 14 respectively. They are linked to at least 20 crimes in the past four years, including stolen property, car theft, and aggravated robbery.

The incident serves as a reminder that carjackings can happen to anyone and are not limited to any specific age group or criminal background. It is important for individuals to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions when leaving their vehicles unattended.
