The Arkansas Tech University robotics team gathered for a group photo at the 2024 VEX U World Championship held in Dallas, Texas. Despite the loss in their final match against Purdue University, the team remained in good spirits and proud of their performance.
The championship took place from April 28-30 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas. Arkansas Tech University performed well in the qualification matches, finishing with an 8-1 record and securing a No. 10 seed in their division for the elimination rounds. During the championship, Arkansas Tech was represented by a group of dedicated students from various majors, showcasing the diverse talents of Arkansas Tech’s student body.
The team’s advisor and engineering faculty member, Jacob Weidenfeller, praised the team’s performance, noting that their autonomous period and driver execution were the best they had ever seen. Despite not winning the championship, Arkansas Tech finished sixth in the skills challenge at the tournament and maintained their top-4 global skills ranking for VEX U robotics.
