In a major development, the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS) and Elsevier have announced that Applied Animal Science (AAS) has made a significant achievement by converting its entire back catalog of articles to open access. This move comes in addition to new articles, following the transition to a 100% gold open access publishing model in January. This allows researchers, students, and all animal science professionals to have free access to the journal’s extensive archive dating back to continuous publication since 1985.

Editor-in-Chief David K. Beede, PhD, who has led the journal for the past six years, emphasized the importance of this move in expanding the reach and impact of Applied Animal Science. By making the entire back catalog freely available, critical research on animal production, welfare, and health can now reach a wider audience and have a greater influence in the field.

The open access conversion of Applied Animal Science’s back catalog reflects the increasing trend towards making scientific research more accessible. This initiative encourages knowledge sharing, fosters collaboration, and accelerates progress in the field of animal science. Readers interested in exploring the newly available articles can access all past issues at appliedanimalscience.org/issues or sciencedirect.com/journal/applied-animal-science/issues.
