Apple recently announced the launch of iOS 18, a new iPhone operating system that includes a series of innovative artificial intelligence features and integration with ChatGPT for tasks such as image generation and writing assistance. Among the new features, users can delegate Siri requests directly to ChatGPT, creating a more fluid and dynamic interaction with the virtual assistant.

While some were excited about the news, others expressed skepticism. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, a direct competitor to OpenAI, was particularly critical. This may stem from competition between xAI and OpenAI. It is important to note that the ChatGPT integration in iOS 18 only becomes active if the user explicitly consents. Users can access ChatGPT features within iOS with the ChatGPT-4 free plan or purchase a ChatGPT Plus subscription for additional services.

Apple has also said that in the future it plans to integrate other third-party AI model providers such as Google’s Gemini. The Cupertino company has reiterated its commitment to protecting privacy and security, suggesting that corporate customers will be able to block the use of ChatGPT and Apple Intelligence features. Overall, iOS 18 brings some exciting new features and partnerships that aim to enhance the user experience while prioritizing privacy and security.
