Apple is preparing for the potential replacement of CEO Tim Cook, even though his departure does not seem imminent. The technology giant has a list of potential candidates, with John Ternus currently leading the race. Ternus, who has been with Apple for over twenty years, has recently gained prominence within the company and is seen as a strong contender for the position.

Other names being considered for the role include Jeff Williams, the current Chief Operating Officer (COO) who has been identified as a potential successor in the event of Cook’s sudden departure. However, Ternus is currently favored for a medium to long-term leadership change. While some have described Ternus as “too young” and not enough of an “innovator,” he has received praise from both Cook and other key figures within Apple.

Craig Federighi, responsible for the iOS operating system, is another potential candidate for the CEO position. His deep understanding of technology’s role in the modern world and ability to anticipate trends make him a strong contender. Phil Schiller, head of the App Store, is also a respected figure within Apple and the industry as a whole.

Jeff Williams, the current COO, oversees Apple’s operations and has been credited with the smooth functioning of the company’s processes. Before Cook became CEO, he held the same position and oversaw design and health initiatives within Apple. While there are several potential candidates for the CEO position, Ternus appears to be the best positioned at this time.
