The new JV streaming service from Disney, Fox Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery is aiming for a fall 2024 launch. Apple veteran Tony Billetter has been appointed as SVP of Strategy and Planning for the joint venture, which has been named Venu Sports.

Billetter previously held the position of head of worldwide business strategy and planning for video and sports at Apple, and also worked at Disney for over a decade in various strategic planning roles. He joins Pete Distad, who was named CEO of Venu earlier this month after managing business, operations, and global distribution at Apple TV+. Before Apple, Distad was the SVP of Marketing and Distribution at Hulu. Jessica Casano-Antonellis, a former executive from SiriusXM and Disney streaming group comms, was named SVP of Communications for Venu Sports earlier this month.

The fall 2024 launch will combine ESPN+ with various linear TV networks that broadcast sports programming such as ABC, ESPN, Fox, TNT, and TBS. The pricing and exact launch date have not been disclosed yet but it is contingent on regulatory approval and final agreements between the parties.
