Apple is in talks with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, to integrate its generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) technology into its various operating systems such as Macs, iPhones, and iPads. This news has resulted in a rise in Apple’s stock on Monday.

According to Patrick Seitz for Investor’s Business Daily, Apple’s stock climbed 1% to 184.94 in morning trades on the stock market. Analyst Daniel Ives from Wedbush Securities mentioned in a client note on Monday that adding AI to Apple’s upcoming iPhones, the iPhone 16 series, could incentivize consumers to upgrade. He also noted that Apple may have the opportunity to monetize some AI services through subscriptions.

Ives highlighted the potential for Apple to capitalize on its massive installed base of 2.2 billion hardware units by offering generative AI technology for various apps and tasks. He suggested that Apple could develop an advanced version of Siri technology in collaboration with OpenAI, offering features that may eventually be available as a separate monthly subscription service along with other AI capabilities.
