Apple has announced the introduction of a built-in phone recording feature that will be integrated into the operating system through layers of artificial intelligence. The new feature allows users to easily record and transcribe phone calls without the need for third-party apps.

To use the feature, users simply need to tap a button on their iPhone screen during a live call. Both parties on the call will be alerted that the call is being recorded, and a visual representation of the audio level as well as a timer indicating the duration of the recording will be displayed on the screen. Once the recording is complete, it will be automatically sent to Apple’s Notes application for playback.

The transcription capability is powered by AI-based Apple Intelligence technology and supports several languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Portuguese. The new operating system, IOS18, is currently available as a bug-fixing developer beta and is recommended for experienced beta testers. For others, it is advised to wait for the stable release in two months.

Overall, this new feature provides an easy-to-use solution for recording and transcribing phone calls without relying on third-party apps with limitations or fees. Users can now save conversations for future reference and search for specific text within transcriptions with ease.
