Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington recently shared an unusual update about infielder Miguel Sanó, who has been sidelined with left knee inflammation since April 26. Sanó began a minor league rehab assignment with the Angels’ Arizona Complex League team last week, but Washington revealed that Sanó suffered a burn on his left knee due to leaving a heating pad on for too long without padding.

The exact details of the incident were not disclosed, but it might add a couple of days to Sanó’s recovery timeline. Despite this setback, Sanó has performed well in his limited appearances this season, reporting to camp 60 pounds lighter than the previous year and having a .262 batting average and a .713 OPS in 21 games. He has been utilized defensively at third base, first base, and designated hitter.

However, the Angels entered Sunday’s game with a 20–32 record, placing them last in the AL West. The team is dealing with more serious injuries to Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon. Despite these challenges, Sanó’s contribution to the team has been valuable, and he will continue to be an important part of the Angels’ future plans when he returns to action.
