Angel Reese, also known as “Chi Barbie,” is making headlines once again with her recent investment as an equity partner in the DC Power Football Club, a women’s soccer team based in Washington, D.C. This move solidifies her place among a select group of professional athletes who own sports teams.

Reese shared her excitement about being involved in the Power FC soccer team, expressing her passion for impacting sports beyond just women’s basketball. Growing up in the DMV area, she has always been a sports enthusiast and saw this opportunity as a way to expand her influence in the world of athletics. Reese mentioned that many young Black women do not have the chance to be part owners of sports teams, making this partnership even more meaningful to her.

Reese’s involvement as an owner in the DC Power Football Club marks a significant moment for the team, as she is the first owner to be announced. The USL Super League is set to begin in August with eight teams in its inaugural season, with more teams expected to join in the future.

Jason Levien, CEO and Co-Chairman of D.C. United, praised Reese for her pioneering decision to invest in Power FC. As a Maryland native, Reese’s dedication to promoting positive change in women’s sports locally and globally is evident. Her role as an equity partner is anticipated to bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the boardroom, inspiring the next generation of female athletes along the way.
