In 2025, the Laver Cup will welcome a new captain to its ranks as Andre Agassi takes over for John McEnroe. Agassi, a former tennis star with eight Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal, is looking forward to leading the “World” team in this exciting ATP Tour event.

As the captain, Agassi understands the importance of managing and understanding his players’ needs throughout the year in order to give them their best chance at winning matches. The Laver Cup is a unique tournament where three players for each team are selected based on their ranking, with the remaining three players being chosen as “captain’s picks.”

In recent years, the tournament has provided memorable moments on the court, such as Roger Federer’s emotional retirement in 2022. This year’s tournament is set to take place in Berlin from September 20-22, following the conclusion of the US Open. Despite not impacting player rankings, it provides top players from around the world with an opportunity to come together and compete in a team format.

Agassi expressed his excitement about taking on this new role and looking forward to working with his new teammates. He understands that captaining a team requires not only technical skills but also strong leadership abilities and effective communication skills. With these qualities, Agassi is confident that he will be able to guide his team towards success on the court.
