The Anderson County Hospital Auxiliary recently awarded $500 scholarships to two high school seniors who intend to pursue nursing careers after graduation. These scholarships are given annually to graduates of an Anderson County high school who plan to enter a medical or healthcare field.
Nancy Horn, a long-standing member and former president of the Anderson County Hospital Auxiliary, presented the scholarships to the students during a recognition event at the high school. Horn currently serves in a state-level position as the Hospital Volunteers of Kansas District 2 Coordinator.
Both Witherspoon and Kohlmeier will be attending Neosho County Community College in the fall to begin their prerequisite courses for nursing. Witherspoon will then continue her studies at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas, while Kohlmeier plans to transfer to Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, to complete her nursing degree.
