The Danville District 118 School Board recently approved a $76,100 expenditure for a new pilot science program designed for fifth through eighth graders. The program, called “Amplify Science,” will be implemented at various schools including North Ridge Middle School, South View Upper Elementary School, Kenneth D. Bailey Academy, and Northeast Magnet School. Director of Curriculum MaryEllen Bunton shared that the program aims to engage students by presenting them with problems and encouraging them to explore solutions.

During the recent District 118 Board meeting on July 3rd, Director of Curriculum MaryEllen Bunton discussed the importance of allowing students to begin with a problem and then work towards finding solutions. She emphasized that this approach would spark curiosity in students and provide them with a solid academic foundation. The district plans to roll out the pilot program in the upcoming fall semester.
