The University of South Florida has recently extended the contract of men’s basketball coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, ensuring that he will remain with the Bulls until 2030. While the financial terms of the extension were not disclosed, it is expected to come with a significant salary increase.

In his inaugural season, Abdur-Rahim led the team to a school-record 25 victories, their first conference regular season championship, and a berth in the NIT. He also helped USF men’s basketball achieve their first Associated Press top-25 ranking and had a cumulative GPA of 3.20 for the 2023-2024 academic year. This successful season saw Abdur-Rahim named the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and garnered interest from other schools like Michigan, Louisville, and Oklahoma State.

Abdur-Rahim is highly respected for his leadership skills and his ability to turn around struggling programs. His commitment to player development and success on and off the court has been instrumental in building USF men’s basketball into a top program in college basketball. Under his guidance, USF men’s basketball has seen great advancement both on and off the court.
