Amazon has announced that they will be launching job listings for their new Cortana fulfillment center in mid-June. The company plans to hire over 1,000 full-time workers. Those interested in applying can visit amazon.com/flexiblejobs and search by zip code.

The Cortana center, which is nearly 90 feet tall, will house storage, robots, and conveyors on the second through fifth floors. These systems will pick items and transport them to the first floor for packaging and distribution. Amazon clarified that none of the items stored at the center will be shipped directly to customers, as the facility serves as the initial stage in Amazon’s distribution process.

Job listings will be posted in batches of a few hundred at a time. Potential employees can sign up for job alerts by texting HIREME to 31432. Amazon will also collaborate with community partners to host neighborhood hiring events. The majority of front-line positions at the center will start at $17 per hour. Employees will have access to benefits like health care, dental, and pre-paid tuition/job training once they are hired.

In a media tour last year, Amazon officials had mentioned that the $200 million center was scheduled to open by mid-2024, but supply chain issues delayed the plans. Demolition of the Cortana Mall began in March 2021 to make way for the new facility. Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome shared the news on social media that Amazon will begin posting job openings on Friday evening.
