Jeff Bezos, the cofounder of Amazon, has once again become the world’s richest person, surpassing luxury tycoon Bernard Arnault. This marks a $32 billion increase since the beginning of the year as Amazon’s stock has risen by almost 25%. With a net worth of $209 billion, Bezos now leads Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.

While Bezos and Arnault have similar fortunes, their paths to wealth are vastly different. Bezos owns Blue Origin, a space exploration company, and holds around 9% of Amazon, according to a SEC filing. Following Bezos and Arnault on the rich list are Elon Musk with a net worth of $200 billion, Mark Zuckerberg with $179 billion, and Larry Page with $156 billion.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has also seen a significant increase on the rich list due to Nvidia’s soaring stock. He is now in 14th place with a $107 billion fortune. In March, Bezos briefly overtook Musk as the world’s richest person. Bezos has also given back to charity with a recent donation of $117 million to fund the preschools he founded. He has pledged to donate the majority of his wealth to charity in 2022.

Representatives for Bezos at Amazon did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.
