Amanda Flann started her own baking business, As Much As You Knead, in June 2022 after growing her own sourdough starter in January of that year. She believes that the time spent with her daughter is irreplaceable and always involves her three-year-old daughter, Scottie, in the baking process.

Flann founded her business during a challenging season of life and found baking to be a restful activity. She wanted to start her own business to be able to stay home with her daughter while still pursuing her passion for baking. In December 2022, she began offering sourdough-making classes which she enjoys as an extrovert and people person.

For Mother’s Day last year, Flann offered pre-painted bread decorated with flowers as a unique gift. Now, she and her daughter are preparing to hold a class together where loved ones and their children can create painted bread of their own. Flann believes that this class is a special opportunity for her and her daughter to work together and share the joy of baking with others.

The “Mommy & Me Sourdough Painting” class will be held on Saturday, May 11 at Poly’s Place Coffee from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $45 per person, and participants will each receive a fresh-baked sourdough loaf to decorate with food-safe paint and markers. Flann expresses gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside her youngest best friend and teach others the art of baking.
