The Alzheimer’s Association is encouraging everyone to prioritize their brain health as June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. With over 6.7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease, it is the most common type of dementia. Dawne Bunn, the director for the Tennessee Alzheimer’s Association, is actively raising awareness about the disease and ways for people to get involved.

Bunn emphasizes the organization’s commitment to supporting families on their journey with Alzheimer’s and provides free resources to the community. Some early signs of Alzheimer’s and dementia include memory loss, challenges in problem-solving, confusion with time or place, and withdrawal from social activities.

The summer solstice on June 20th is dedicated to bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s disease. In Chattanooga, partners like Charter Living are participating in events like The Longest Day to raise funds for research. These efforts are crucial in advancing research and finding a cure for the disease.
