New York Yankees’ Juan Soto was removed from Thursday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins due to left forearm discomfort. The All-Star slugger, who has been playing through the discomfort for about 1 1/2 or two weeks, will undergo imaging the following day to determine the extent of the injury.

Soto mentioned that he had been dealing with tightness and discomfort in his forearm for about 1 1/2 or two weeks. Despite the discomfort, he has been playing through it and it doesn’t impact his throwing or hitting abilities. However, the soreness does affect him when making certain arm movements, prompting his removal from the game after a rain delay.

During the game, Soto was replaced by Aaron Judge in right field, while Alex Verdugo came off the bench to play left. Soto, a left-handed thrower and batter, continued to play throughout this discomfort as he started all 64 games in his first season with the Yankees after being acquired from the San Diego Padres.

Dr. Christopher Ahmad, the Yankees physician, checked on Soto during the rain delay. Soto confirmed that he had never experienced a similar issue with his forearm before. The team is hopeful that Soto’s discomfort is not serious and that he will be able to recover quickly. Pitcher Marcus Stroman expressed concern for his teammate and sent positive energy towards Soto’s recovery.

Manager Aaron Boone mentioned that it’s too early to determine if Soto will have to miss any games as a result of this issue. The team will have to wait for the results of the imaging to determine the next steps for Soto and his playing status.
