In the UFL’s Week 10 regular-season finale, Arlington emerged victorious over D.C. at Audi Field with a score of 32-31. Alex Ellis, a former Volunteer and tight end for D.C., had an impressive performance in the game, recording two receptions and 29 receiving yards while being targeted three times throughout the matchup. Despite not being selected in the 2016 NFL draft, Ellis had a successful season with the Defenders, finishing third in the XFL Conference. His standout performance against Arlington showcased his skills and contributions to the team throughout the season.

During his time at Tennessee from 2011-2015, Ellis played under head coaches Derek Dooley and Butch Jones. He appeared in 26 games for the Vols, with one start, and accumulated 14 receptions, 232 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown. Although he did not receive recognition from NFL scouts during that time period, Ellis was able to find success in the UFL with the Defenders. His impressive play on the field earned him recognition as one of the standout performers of his team during their run to third place in their conference.
