The latest edition of the VISTAGE Argentina Business Confidence Index presents a concerning outlook for the profitability of the private sector. This index has been conducted since 2006 and included 355 businesspeople, CEOs, senior executives and business owners who provided their opinions on the current economic scenario in Argentina and the future of their organizations during the fourth and last quarter of 2023.

In this study, 83% of respondents believe that the economy worsened compared to a year ago while only 13% estimate that it remained unchanged. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, 50% think that the situation will deteriorate, while 37% believe it will improve and 13% predict no changes. This suggests a challenging outlook for private sector profitability.

Regarding investment in fixed assets for next year, 47% believe it will remain unchanged, while 31% predict it will decrease and only 22% expect an increase. High inflation is a significant factor that may impact businesses’ decisions to invest in fixed assets.
