The upcoming 2024 season for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team promises to be an exciting one. This is due to several significant changes that have occurred, including the replacement of legendary head coach Nick Saban by former Washington Huskies coach Kalen DeBoer and the expansion of the College Football Playoffs to a 12-team format.

Despite not being considered national title contenders throughout most of the 2023 season, Alabama won the SEC Championship over Georgia Bulldogs and made it to the College Football Playoffs. However, they were eventually defeated by Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl, which was ultimately decided as the national champions.

As we approach the new season, there is uncertainty about where Alabama will rank at the start of it. ESPN has ranked every FBS team using an algorithm that eliminates human bias, making it a more reliable prediction. According to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), Georgia is ranked first with a rating of 26.8, while Alabama is ranked fifth with a rating of 21.9.

The clock is ticking for DeBoer and his coaching staff to prepare a team capable of competing for a national championship, something that has become standard in Tuscaloosa.
