The Birmingham-Southern baseball team is making waves in college sports with their incredible postseason run to the Division III College World Series. Despite the school’s closure, the team continues to excel and has captured national attention due to their journey.

As the No. 7 seed Panthers prepare to face No. 2 Salve Regina on Friday, Coach Jan Weisberg’s appearance on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” and a documentary crew following the team have further heightened interest in their story. The support from fans, locally and nationally, has been overwhelming, with a GoFundMe account raising over $100,000 to assist the team during their postseason run.

Despite facing financial struggles that led to the permanent closure of their institution, the Panthers have persevered and are now set to compete in the College World Series in Eastlake, Ohio.
