British tennis player Jack Draper secured his first ATP Tour title at the Stuttgart Open by defeating Matteo Berrettini from Italy in a thrilling match. Draper, 22, showed resilience by coming back from a set down to claim victory on the grass court in Germany.

Reflecting on his achievement, Draper expressed his happiness and gratitude for winning his first title. He acknowledged the challenges he faced over the years and credited his hard work for this milestone. Berrettini, a Wimbledon finalist in 2021, initially took the lead in the match by breaking Draper’s serve, but Draper fought back in a closely contested second set.

The match reached a pivotal moment in the third set when Draper broke Berrettini’s serve and held his own to secure the win. Draper’s victory will propel him to the top of the British rankings, surpassing Cameron Norrie. Additionally, his world ranking will rise to 32, potentially earning him a seeded position at Wimbledon, which starts on July 1st.

Draper’s next challenge will be at the Queen’s Club Championships in England, where he aims to continue his momentum and prepare for Wimbledon. The Queen’s Club Championships is one of the most prestigious grass court tournaments and it will give Draper an opportunity to further hone his skills before facing some of the best players in the world at Wimbledon.

During an interview after the match, Draper said: “I can’t believe I won my first title! It’s been a long time coming and I couldn’t have done it without all my hard work and dedication.” He also thanked his coaches and family for their support throughout his career.

Berrettini congratulated Draper on social media saying: “Congrats Jack! You played really well and deserved to win. It was an honor to play against you.”

Overall, Jack Draper’s victory at Stuttgart Open is a significant milestone in his career as it marks not only his first ATP Tour title but also sets him up for success at future Grand Slam tournaments like Wimbledon.
