AFT, a Bucyrus-based company that specializes in recycling paper into insulation and asphalt paving fibers, has announced the opening of its second production line at its facility in Crossroads Industrial Park. The $5.5 million expansion includes an investment in cutting-edge technology, robotics, and automation, creating six full-time positions and maintaining the company’s current workforce of 33 employees.

Founded in 1988 by local entrepreneur Doug Leuthold, AFT has grown steadily since establishing its first facility in Bucyrus in 2001. With the addition of a second production line, AFT will be able to meet the increasing demand for its products.

The decision to invest in a second production line not only strengthens AFT’s presence in the community but also demonstrates their confidence in the local workforce and economic environment. Bucyrus Mayor Bruce Truka commended AFT and IBP for their forward-thinking approach, noting that the expansion will create new jobs and contribute to the city’s income tax revenue. This investment highlights the mutually beneficial relationship between businesses and the community, showcasing the positive impact of strategic decisions on both sides.
