Recently, Academy Sports and Outdoor made a generous donation of 400 life jackets worth $5,000 to Safe Kids Columbus at Piedmont Columbus Regional. This was their 5th consecutive year of support, and the new life jackets will be used to promote community safety during water activities in the upcoming summer months.

Academy Sports + Outdoors has a long history of supporting Safe Kids Columbus, having donated over $25,000 worth of items to help promote water safety in the community. Safe Kids Columbus, led by Piedmont Columbus Regional, is dedicated to keeping children safe in the community through various programs and initiatives.

To further promote water safety, Safe Kids Columbus is hosting its annual River Savvy Kids event this Saturday from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Blanton Creek Campground in Hamilton. The event aims to educate children on the importance of river safety, with kids receiving free individual life jackets. The event will have a pirate theme, so children are encouraged to wear pirate costumes for the occasion.
