Abu Dhabi’s Food and Water Abundance Development Park (AGWA) has announced that government regulatory bodies have joined forces to create a favorable regulatory environment for the food and water sector. The initiative aims to position Abu Dhabi as a leading global destination in the sector and strengthen its role in addressing global challenges related to food shortages and water scarcity.

The Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council will collaborate to establish regulatory frameworks and mechanisms that encourage innovative solutions in agriculture, food, and water production. This cooperation is expected to attract prominent companies and talents to develop new solutions at AGWA.

Led by the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, AGWA is set to be a global hub for developing innovative food products, components, and modern technologies for safe drinking water provision and improved water utilization methods. The complex aims to support local suppliers and exporters while maximizing trade opportunities at the global level.

By leveraging its strategic location as a gateway to major international markets, AGWA aims to benefit from the global food and water industry worth 77.4 trillion dirhams by providing economic growth opportunities and job creation. With an anticipated GDP contribution of about 90 billion dirhams by 2045, the complex expects to create approximately 62,000 new jobs while attracting investments worth up to 128 billion dirhams.

Through cooperation agreements with key stakeholders such as Abu Dhabi Ports, Abu Dhabi Airports, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, Masdar City, among others, AGWA provides an enabling environment for companies joining the development park.
