As a family, we recently conducted a taste test of plain Greek yogurt from four different grocery stores. We ranked them based on our preferences and were amazed at how different the flavors were. To begin with, I found that the Trader Joe’s Greek nonfat yogurt had a tangy flavor that I did not enjoy, while my daughter also didn’t like it. However, the organic plain nonfat Greek yogurt from Wegmans had a perfect subtle flavor that we both enjoyed.

Greek yogurt has become a staple in our household due to its low carb, high protein content, and probiotic properties. This makes it an excellent filling and nutritious breakfast or snack option for my 9-year-old daughter. With the increasing popularity of Greek yogurt worldwide, we wanted to test out different store-brand versions to determine the best value for our money. According to market research, the global Greek yogurt market is worth billions of dollars.

I sampled plain Greek yogurt from Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Costco and Wegmans, all of which offer their own store-brand varieties. I opted for the most basic options available at each store and tasted them without any additional toppings. Most of the yogurts were nonfat except for the 365 brand from Whole Foods which contained 3.5% milk fat.

After conducting our taste test, we ranked the Greek yogurts from worst to best based on our preferences and overall impressions. This experience allowed us to identify which store-brand Greek yogurt we found to be the most enjoyable and best value for our tastes.
