The construction of a new 75,000 square-foot facility began in 2022, which includes the Kilgore College Health Science Education Center, a new family medicine location for CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, and an out-patient physical therapy location adjacent to the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Emergency Center. Todd Hancock, president of CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health System, expressed gratitude for the partnership and collaboration with the City of Kilgore and Kilgore College, emphasizing the facility’s role in providing education opportunities for future health care providers and increasing community care capacity.

The Kilgore College Torrence Health Science Education Center is a cutting-edge teaching facility that houses the college’s associate degree nursing, vocational nursing, physical therapy assistant, and radiologic technology programs. Spanning 37,324 square feet, the educational space offers an enhanced learning environment for Kilgore College students. Dr. Brenda Kays, president of Kilgore College, highlighted the institution’s commitment to training the next generation of East Texas health care workers and celebrated the Torrence Health Science Education Center as a significant step forward in that mission.

The center is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and facilities that provide students with hands-on experience in their chosen field. This allows them to gain practical knowledge and skills that are essential for success in their careers. The center also offers clinical rotations at local hospitals and clinics where students can apply their knowledge and skills in real-world settings.

In addition to its educational programs, the facility also serves as a hub for community care. It houses several healthcare providers who offer services to patients from all over East Texas. The outpatient physical therapy location adjacent to the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Emergency Center provides patients with easy access to physical therapy services without having to travel far from home. This enhances patient care by allowing them to receive timely treatment when they need it most.

Overall, the construction of this new facility represents a significant investment in healthcare education and community care in East Texas. It underscores the commitment of CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic, Kilgore College
