The world premiere of John Galsworthy’s The Forsyte Saga is set to take place at London’s Park Theatre. The adaptation by Shaun McKenna and Lin Coghlan, based on the novel originally published in the early 1900s, will run from October 11 through December 7, with opening night scheduled for October 19.

Titled The Forsyte Saga Part 1: Irene and The Forsyte Saga Part 2: Fleur, both productions will be directed by Josh Roche. The principal cast includes Fiona Hampton as Irene Forsyte, Joseph Millson as Soames Forsyte, and Flora Spencer-Longhurst as Fleur Forsyte. Additional casting will be revealed later on.

Set in 1886 London, the saga follows the story of Soames Forsyte, a wealthy solicitor, and Irene, his wife whom he views as his prized possession. Years later, their daughter Fleur is compelled to confront a shocking family secret as history begins to repeat itself. Spanning 40 years from the end of the Victorian era to the beginning of the Roaring ’20s, the epic delves into themes of class, respectability, and possessive patriarchy.

The adaptation has earned Galsworthy the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1932 and has been previously adapted for television by the BBC in 1967 and ITV in 2002. McKenna and Coghlan previously brought the novels to BBC Radio 4 in 2016 in a series titled The Forsytes. For more details on this exciting production visit ParkTheatre.co.uk.
