A minor fire occurred on the Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, while it was docked in a port in Mexico. The fire was quickly extinguished with no injuries reported, and its impact on board was minimal. The incident happened in Costa Maya, Mexico, and the vessel temporarily lost power.

However, back-up power was activated promptly to prevent any disruption to passengers. The crew on board had handled such situations before and were able to control the blaze swiftly. Passengers were informed through on-board announcements about the situation, causing only minor disruption on board.

The Icon of the Seas is a luxury ship that features seven swimming pools and a 17,000-square-foot water park. Despite this minor setback, it continues its itinerary to Cozumel without any impact from the fire. According to a Royal Caribbean spokesperson, although minor fires are not uncommon on cruise ships, they are usually handled swiftly and without significant disruption to passengers. One can remember the fire that broke out on a Carnival Cruise Lines ship in March which was captured on video by a passenger.
