The Cardinals’ season opener against the Bills is just 67 days away

In the NFL offseason, as the Cardinals prepare for their upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills on September 8 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, one question lingers: who will wear the No. 69 jersey? The number has been controversial due to its innuendo, but it takes a special kind of player to confidently wear it.

In recent years, no impactful players have worn the number. Evan Mathis wore it in 2016, but his season was cut short due to injury after just four games. The last significant player to wear the No. 69 jersey for the Cardinals was Mike Gandy back in 2007-2009. During his time with the team, the Cardinals won the division twice and even made a Super Bowl appearance.

As we continue counting down the days until the season starts, let’s take a closer look at Mike Gandy’s time with the Cardinals. In three seasons with the team, Gandy played in and started 44 games as their starting left tackle. He was their final stop in his eight-year NFL career and his contributions helped lead them to success both on and off the field.

Stay tuned tomorrow for more updates on this exciting upcoming game between two NFL powerhouses. If you want more Cardinal-related content, be sure to listen to Cards Wire’s podcast, Rise Up See Red which is available on Spotify, YouTube or Apple Podcasts.
