The world is coming together to celebrate Easter, the most significant festival in the Christian calendar. Thousands of worshippers gathered at St. Peter’s square to witness Pope Francis lead Easter Sunday Mass, marking the day when Jesus was resurrected, according to the Bible. Despite concerns about his health, Pope Francis also participated in a two-hour vigil at the Vatican on Saturday, reading a lengthy homily and performing baptisms.

Easter celebrations took place all over the world, including in places like the Philippines and Kenya. In the Philippines, worshippers crowded to witness a traditional procession while in Nairobi’s Kiberia district, people of all ages came together to light candles. Catholic devotees received Holy communions from priests in various places such as St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya, Sri Lanka and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem’s Old City. The Grand Immaculate Church in Al-Hamdaniya, Iraq also led Easter Sunday Mass and vigils. These celebrations mark the shared faith and traditions of Christians globally.
