Andrey Rublev, a top-ranked tennis player, had a difficult day at the French Open. In a shocking third-round loss to Matteo Arnaldi, Rublev struggled to control his emotions and eventually smashed his racquet on the court. Despite being ranked as high as five in the world rankings, Rublev failed to advance beyond the quarter-finals in major tournaments.

Rublev’s behavior on the court was characterized by frustration and anger. He threw his racquet to the ground early in the match and received a warning from the umpire. As he lost control, he shouted at his team and hit his knee with his racquet. His fiery temperament had been evident in previous matches as well, but it seemed to be taking a toll on him this time around.

Despite making efforts to improve his behavior, Rublev’s struggles against Arnaldi were clear. The sixth seed was defeated 7-6, 6-2, 6-4 by the 35th-ranked Italian player. After the match, Rublev left visibly upset and disappointed with himself for not being able to perform better.

The loss marks another early exit for Rublev at Grand Slam events. He also fell in the third round last year at Wimbledon. Annabel Croft, a former British number one player who has witnessed many intense matches, described Rublev’s behavior as tough to watch and emphasized that players must find perspective when dealing with emotions on the court.

With Arnaldi now set to face either ninth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or China’s Zhang Zhizhen in the next round of French Open tennis tournament
