The 22-year-old England youth international, Josh Griffiths, has recently signed a new three-year contract with West Bromwich Albion. Griffiths, who spent last season as Albion’s second-choice goalkeeper, is now committed to the club until the summer of 2027.

Griffiths expressed his long-term goal of becoming Albion’s number one goalkeeper and is excited about the direction the club is heading under new ownership. Despite being limited to three cup games during the 2023-24 season, Griffiths is determined to work towards his goal of becoming the number one goalkeeper for Albion.

Last season, Griffiths was recalled from a loan at Portsmouth to make 10 first team appearances, keeping 10 clean sheets in league matches. He also had success on the field with four clean sheets in six home league appearances for Albion. Griffiths commended his teammate Alex Palmer, who was the first-choice goalkeeper last season and had an outstanding performance. Palmer’s skill and consistency earned him recognition as one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

Despite competition from Palmer and other talented young keepers like Sam Johnstone and Jack Butland, Griffiths remains focused on achieving his dream of becoming Albion’s top keeper. He looks forward to working with new manager Dean Smith and contributing to Albion’s success in future seasons.

West Bromwich Albion finished third in the Championship playoffs last season but were ultimately defeated by Southampton in the semi-finals. However, Griffiths remained optimistic about their chances for promotion next year and believes that they have what it takes to succeed.

The signing of Griffiths represents a significant boost for West Bromwich Albion as they look forward to a bright future under new ownership and management.
