A former employee of CoreCivic of Tennessee LLC is set to stand trial over allegations that the company wrongfully terminated him due to his mental health conditions and race. The ex-employee claims that he was fired from his position as a unit manager in Shelby, Montana, in violation of state wrongful discharge and disability discrimination laws.

CoreCivic contends that the worker was let go due to allegations that he retaliated against a Hispanic subordinate who had reported him for mocking her accent. However, there is also the possibility that a jury could interpret the events leading up to the former manager’s termination differently, suggesting that CoreCivic may have used the incident as a convenient excuse to let him go.

The trial will offer both sides an opportunity to present their arguments and evidence, allowing the jury to make a determination based on the facts presented. It will be a test of whether the former employee’s termination was justified or if there was a violation of employment and discrimination laws. The outcome of the trial will ultimately determine the legality of the actions taken by CoreCivic in this case.
