Keeping a close eye on JMU Football’s spring portal activity, there have been no transfer additions yet, but several key departures from the team. One such departure is Tyrique Tucker, a defensive tackle who played in all 13 games in 2023 and was projected as a starter in 2024. With three years of eligibility left, his departure is a significant loss for the team.

Sammy Malignaggi, a backup running back and kick returner, saw limited playing time last season due to the transfer additions at running back. Given his limited prospects for playing time in 2024, he has decided to leave the program. Solomon Vanhorse, a versatile player at returner and running back, also departs from the team. He was likely behind Ayo Adeyi and George Pettaway on the depth chart.

Collin Carroll, who redshirted in 2023 as a tight end, is leaving the program in search of more playing time. The tight end room at JMU is crowded with players like Kyi Wright and Taylor Thompson leading the pack. Wesley Bostic, an offensive lineman with three years of eligibility left, has also entered the transfer portal as he was not projected to see significant playing time in 2024 as a reserve lineman.
