On March 14, 2024, tornadoes struck Central Ohio, causing significant damage and devastation to homes, apartments, and businesses. Tragically, lives were lost and many others sustained serious injuries. While the impact was felt across 11 counties in the region, the economic damage in Logan County has been particularly severe. In response to this disaster, Governor DeWine has requested a disaster declaration from the Small Business Administration (SBA), hoping to make low-interest loans available to businesses that need assistance in repairing the damage caused by the tornadoes.

U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and J.D. Vance (R-OH) have joined forces to advocate for this disaster declaration for Logan County. The senators believe that SBA assistance is crucial for families and businesses in the county to recover from the losses sustained due to the tornadoes. In addition to their efforts in Logan County, Senators Brown and Vance have also urged the Biden Administration to issue a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster declaration for several other counties in Ohio that were affected by tornadoes on March 14th. These counties include Auglaize, Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Hancock, Licking, Mercer, Miami, Richland
