Kasson-Mantorville High School (KMS) recently received a grant of $21,420 from The Minnesota Service Cooperative CTE Team & The FutureForward™ Impact Grant Review Committee. This grant will allow KMS and Triton Public Schools (TPS) to partner in creating a state-of-the-art CNA/Health Sciences lab within KMHS, providing students with enhanced career readiness opportunities. The collaboration with Minnesota State College Southeast will also enable students to earn college credit through the program.

According to Ashley Kaplan, Director of Student and Staff Support Systems at KMS and the grant’s author, “We are grateful for the grant funding that will help increase career readiness opportunities for our KoMet students at Kasson-Mantorville High School.” Students who take part in this course will have the opportunity to secure employment during high school in a $20 per hour position. Additionally, the course will allow students to earn three transferable credits for a state nursing program.

Equipment will be purchased based on the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines for Nurse Aid training in an existing classroom, with the lab expected to be fully prepared during the 24-25 school year. Students from KMS and TPS will be able to enroll in the Nursing Assistant/CNA course starting early 2025 for the 25-26 school year.
