Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced new arrests related to the corruption network, but details were not provided. Previous arrests in the case had been marred by the deaths of two detainees, one due to suicide and the other due to illness. The investigation into the corruption scandal continues, with authorities working to hold those involved accountable.

Colonel Marino Lugo of Venezuela was one of the individuals arrested in the corruption scandal involving the state oil company PDVSA. It was not specified when Lugo was detained, but he was wanted in connection with the PDVSA-Cripto case, which has led to the arrest of over 54 individuals, including former Ministers of Oil and Economy. Lugo was facing charges of various crimes such as embezzlement, money laundering, and association.

The Public Ministry reported that Lugo was found hanging in his cell and an autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of death. However, it is still unclear whether Lugo’s death was a result of suicide or foul play.

The investigation into the corruption scandal continues as Venezuelan authorities continue their efforts to bring those involved to justice.
