In March, Amazon Prime had 180 million members, which accounts for 75% of all US shoppers. This data highlights the ubiquity of Amazon in online shopping. The number of Prime members increased by 8% from 2023, bringing the share of US consumers with Prime to 75%.

During the pandemic, online shopping experienced a significant increase. While the growth rate may be slightly slower, new numbers suggest that Prime still has potential for further expansion. The cost of a Prime membership is $15 per month or $140 annually, and it remains a crucial source of revenue for Amazon. Analysts predict that the company’s subscription revenue for the first quarter will increase by 12% to $10.8 billion.

Other retailers are also trying to compete with Amazon’s membership services. Target recently introduced Circle 360, which offers unlimited same-day delivery for $49 per year, while Walmart has been expanding its Walmart+ subscription program for years. Despite these efforts to compete, Amazon remains deeply entrenched in e-commerce and continues to ship items purchased from other websites through its fulfillment centers.
