Elon Musk, the co-founder of OpenAI, has left the project due to concerns about the potential harm it could cause to humanity. In an interview with Nicolai Tangen, the executive director of Norges Bank Investment Management, Musk made a troubling prediction about the future of artificial intelligence (AI). He believes that AI models will surpass human intelligence by the end of 2025 and that the development of artificial general intelligence (AGI) is not far off.
Musk’s predictions are supported by Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, a company that has played a major role in AI development through its chips. Huang predicts that AI will exceed human intelligence within five years, but shortages caused by demand for dedicated hardware have slowed down progress in this field.
During the interview, Musk also discussed his plans for Grok, an AI model he created. He revealed plans to release a second version in May that will outperform GPT-4 and offer it to all X Premium subscribers as part of a strategy to boost subscriptions on his social network.
Musk emphasized the importance of AI security and stressed the need for systems to be truthful in order to be effectively managed. Failure to prioritize truthfulness in programming could lead to significant challenges in handling this powerful technology.
