On Monday, Neil Robertson and Noppon Saengkham advanced to the final round of qualifying for the World Snooker Championship. Robertson, who won the world championship in 2010, found himself having to qualify for the first time since 2006 after dropping out of the top 16 in the world rankings. In his match against Zak Surety in Sheffield, he defeated him 10-2.
Saengkham, the Thai number one, achieved a maximum break of 147 while beating Andy Hicks in his qualifying match. He will face Jackson Page of Wales for a chance to compete in the main tournament at the Crucible, starting on Saturday. Saengkham is currently ranked 22nd in the world.
Robertson dominated his match against Surety by taking a commanding 7-2 lead after the opening session. He sealed his victory with breaks of 90 and 117, setting up a match against either Jamie Jones or Alfie Burden for a spot in the main tournament. Robertson is currently ranked 24th in the world.
