The New York Jets (17) have announced a switch to uniforms that pay homage to their 1980s look, which they wore as throwbacks last season. The team unveiled their new jerseys on Monday, and they are designed to replicate the old 1980s style with a few tweaks and an alternate version that features black as the primary color. This decision was inspired by the positive reception of the “legacy white” throwback uniforms they wore last season.

The new uniform design is a nod to a successful era for the Jets, featuring players like Mark Gastineau and the “Sack Exchange.” The change also includes a return to the jet design on the “J” in Jets on their helmet, bringing back a classic feature of their past. Jets chairman Woody Johnson stated that the team values fan feedback and that these new uniforms reflect their history while updating their iconic logo.

This is not the first time the Jets have looked to their past for uniform redesigns, but fans are expected to be thrilled with this nostalgic tribute to the franchise’s history. After a recent redesign in 2019 did not resonate with fans as much as hoped, this return to form is likely to make fans feel like they are truly supporting their beloved team. Overall, these new uniforms promise to bring back memories while refreshing them for modern times.
