Iowa’s Record-Setting Season Comes to an End as South Carolina Wins NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship

The University of South Carolina emerged victorious in the NCAA women’s basketball national championship, defeating Iowa 87-75 in Cleveland. The No. 1 overall seed Gamecocks completed a perfect 38-0 season, leading up to the championship game, they had the top three most-viewed women’s college basketball games of all time.

Iowa guard Caitlin Clark played her final college game after a record-setting season with the Hawkeyes. Leading up to the championship game, Iowa had been unbeaten, with their only loss in the past 80 games being to the Hawkeyes in last year’s Final Four. Despite their impressive record, it wasn’t enough to stop South Carolina from winning their second consecutive title and completing a perfect season.

South Carolina has had an impressive record over the last three seasons, boasting a 109-3 record. The team’s victory in the national championship solidified their dominance in women’s college basketball and cemented their place as one of the best teams in history. Iowa put up a tough fight throughout the tournament but ultimately fell short against South Carolina’s incredible performance.
