Merit Health Biloxi honored National Doctors Day by giving back to the community through a donation to Gulf Coast Community Ministries (GCCM). GCCM is a nonprofit organization that works with churches and local businesses to provide assistance with various needs, such as food donations, clothing drives, and support for the homeless. They also operate a free health clinic to help those in need.

The hospital donated $2,500 to GCCM, and Biloxi Regional Medical Center matched the donation with a second check. Dwayne Blaylock, interim CEO of Merit Health Biloxi, explained that the donation was made in recognition of medical staff and to address social determinants of health. He believes that supporting local nonprofit organizations like GCCM helps create goodwill in the community.

GCCM expressed their gratitude on social media, stating that the donation will have a significant impact on the local community. The collaboration between Merit Health Biloxi, Biloxi Regional Medical Center, and GCCM demonstrates the importance of working together to support those in need.
