The DuPage County Board has recently passed a strategic plan that outlines its goals and aspirations for the future of the county. Led by the Strategic Planning Committee, which was headed by board member Sadia Covert, the plan focuses on community services and economic development as a means to promote local businesses, workforce development, and create outreach programs for families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.

County Board Chair Deborah Conroy emphasized the importance of this plan in ensuring that DuPage County remains prosperous and thriving for years to come. While the plan’s goals are not set in stone and there are no consequences for not adhering to them, priorities such as community well-being, fiscal responsibility, a thriving economy, safety, environmental stewardship, and mobility have garnered increased attention.

The smaller objectives within the plan include reducing DuPage County’s landfill presence and expanding bike and pedestrian pathways. Projects like the Solid Waste Management Plan and the DuPage County Trails Plan are paving the way for more manageable improvements in these areas. The County engaged with the community through forums, interviews, and surveys to gather input and support before approving this plan.

In summary, this strategic plan serves as a blueprint for guiding legislation that will help ensure continued prosperity in DuPage County while focusing on community services
