The NFL season is just around the corner and teams are already making moves to improve their chances of success. One such team that is in need of a new starting quarterback is the Minnesota Vikings, who recently lost Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons. In order to set themselves up for the future, several teams have taken a bold approach and traded for new quarterbacks.

One such trade proposal was suggested by former NFL GM and current ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum, who believes that the Vikings should acquire Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray in exchange for the 11th overall pick and a third-round pick. This trade would help clear cap space for the Cardinals, officially begin the McCarthy era in Arizona, and address the Vikings’ quarterback issues. Tannenbaum believes that while Murray’s durability remains a concern, he brings elite arm talent and athleticism that could benefit the team.

From the Vikings’ perspective, acquiring Murray would offer a younger and more affordable option than re-signing Cousins. However, there are still uncertainties surrounding his potential as a long-term quarterback solution. Additionally, the Vikings would lose the financial benefit of having a quarterback on a rookie contract. Overall, while this trade proposal may be an interesting idea, it may not be grounded in reality and further debate is needed before making any decisions about whether or not it would be a good move for the Vikings.
