Scarlett Johansson is currently in talks to star in Universal’s latest installment of the Jurassic World franchise, set to be released on July 2, 2025. The film will be directed by Gareth Edwards with a script written by David Koepp, who took over from David Leitch after his departure from the project.

Johansson has previously established herself as a successful actress in various genres, including her roles as Black Widow in the Marvel Studios films and earning two Oscar nominations for Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit. In addition to this new project, she is also set to voice a character in the upcoming animated feature Transformers One and will appear alongside Channing Tatum in a big-budget Apple feature this year.

The Jurassic World franchise has been ongoing for 30 years since its first hit film Jurassic Park in 1993, directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Michael Crichton’s novel. This was followed by The Lost World and Jurassic Park III before being revived by Universal with Jurassic World in 2015, which grossed $1.67 billion at the box office. The recent trilogy of films was led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard under the direction of filmmaker Colin Trevorrow.
